Just wanted to mention that even when you have the latest flashes, and try not to turn the car off cold (When forced, reving it for 10 secs at 3,000 rpm before pulling the key), you can still have issues.

This weekend exactly that happened to me, the first time I've had a flooding issue in the 2 years I've owned the car.

Ironic since I was about to bring it to the dealership for the upgraded starter/batt.

Car flooded, couldn't start up, the choke method didn't help. Had to get it towed.

Was the starter battery a recal? or is it just something covered under warranty? I went and replaced my battery on my own one day when my engine was flooded. Would I still be eligible for the recall (if that's what it is)?

It's not a recall, since a recall means something completely different. There's no safety issue with this.

It's a dealer TSB (technical service bulletin). If you flood, they will replace your starter (if you have the low end version we all got in 2004), upgrade your car battery (from a ~350 CCA to 650 CCA), as well as replace your spark plugs.

If you just come off the street, I doubt they will hand you a new battery. But if you flooded... then you might qualify.

Ah ok, I just went in for something, think it was the latest .....TSB? Anyway, they changed my several of my spark plugs but nobody said anything about my battery.

they change the sparks because they can get fouled in the flooding. If your car is recent enough, you might not benefit from the batt/starter upgrade. What year is yours?

If you already upgraded the batt, don't worry about it. It's the more powerful starter that you'll want to get a hold of Smile It is much nicer than the old one. It cranks faster, and harder.

I'm gonna have to find the paperwork to figure out exactly what they did, but now that you mention it, I believe the started was one of the things replaced along with the spark plugs. I remember when I got it back the first time I went to start the car it turned on before even one rotation. Laughing
