I was looking for some cheap premix...

I saw QUICKSILVER TCW3 @ sams for $15 a gallon:

Will be trying it out over the next month.

I decided against using this premix. Instead, I went with Royal Purple synthetic 2 stroke oil.

Are we suppose to be using 2 cycle oil in the gas?

People have done it for years in rotary cars. They especially do it for racing cars.

Rather than go over this topic once again, how about just reading what others have said about premixing:

btw, I'm quite happy with the rp 2 stroke oil. I put in 8 oz in the last tank of gas and the car was smooth like butter.

I've run synthetic 2 stroke in 1/4 oz per gallon, and while I agree it improves things, I've found that FP-60 fuel system cleaner/lubricant provides the same lubrication qualities and helps brake up carbon deposits. I love the stuff and am using a ratio of 3:1 fp60 to lucas ucl. That mixture at a ratio of 1/4 oz per gallon has been working great.

There are some concerns that pre-mix is the cause behind the gunky buildup on the fuel pump screens, but if starvation becomes an issue, I'll cross that bridge when I get there. In the interim the gains are too big to pass up IMO.

I bought the new FP60 - I think it's called FP4000 or something. It's similar to FP60, but it's also a UCL. So I premix about 2-4 oz of that per tank, and no more 2 stroke oil since I have the Sohn OMP adapter (see DIY forum for details).

I think this is the best overall setup for the RX-8.
