| So there I am browsing through Ebay when I come across a complete break set for 364.99 US, I am somewhat looking for new break rotors and want to have slotted and drilled. To find them go to http://cgi.ebay.ca/PREMIUM-D-S-F-R-ROTORS-Mazda...rkparms=72%3A1215|66%3A3|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 . They are made by R1 Concepts I am wondering if they will just be junk any advice? |

the problem with drilled oem rotors is they can crack. the last thing you want are your rotors to fall apart or start getting jammed into your calipers.
if you had a choice, i'd go for just slotted. drilled and slotted look nice and all, but you will notice a drop off in grip. |

for brake pads, i like hawk's ceramic. There is a lot less dust from the oem pads, and no squeel, while having approx the same amount of stopping power.
after about 10 days i notice a thin gray layer of dust on my rims. they wipe up instead of getting embedded like the oem dust does. so overall cheap, low dust, no noise. |

Drilling OEM rotors was never in my mind that is a very rough thing for some one to do to try and upgrade their brakes. I will notice a drop in grip from OEM rotors? or from drilled and slotted to just slotted?
Those factory break pads do leave nasty nasty dust |

when you go with slots/drills, you will also increase dust and wear on the pads.
personally I think staying OEM is the better choice. But if you want the look, you have to accept some concessions. |

| so if i upgrade my rotors it is not really going to increase my stopping power just cause excessive wear on my break pads? will i notice the biggest increase in stopping power with just upgraded break pads? |

honestly, it's hard to improve on the oem setup.
the rx8 brakes in 112 or 113 feet, which is similar to a standard 911 porsche of equal size and weight. |

| Well you have pretty much saved me buying new rotors then for now ha ha, I will check out those new brake pads tho. Even when the time comes to replace my factory rotors, would you recommend stayin with the OEM? unless i can get a but load of cash together and buy http://www.injectedperformance.com/ec/product.a...ID=367&VID=27 |

| What is the benefit of stainless brake lines? or is it merely cosmetic? |

| i'd go with the hawk ceramics. really can't think of much to complain about with them. they make several different types. the pads with more stopping power might end up wearing out the rotors faster, or making squeeling noises. some pads have excellent grip only once warmed up, so aren't well suited for a daily driver... like i said, it all depends on your needs and what you're willing to put up with. the hawk ceramics are a good setup for daily driving. |

less spongy feeling to the peddle. without the steel wrapped around the brake line, it can expand a little bit, which means the peddle doesn't feel quite as solid.
minor improvement, i wouldn't bother unless you're also due for a brake fluid change. |
